Keeping in mind the torrential rainfall, Puducherry’s Home and Education Minister, A. Namassivayam, announced that all schools and colleges in the Puducherry and Karaikal regions will remain closed on Wednesday. This decision to keep schools and colleges closed in rain-affected areas has been taken to ensure that students stay safe within their houses.Meanwhile, the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has issued a red alert for eight districts in Tamil Nadu, forecasting extremely heavy rainfall exceeding 20 cm within the next 24 hours. The affected districts are Villupuram, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Tiruvallur, Thanjavur, Pudukottai, and Ramanathapuram. Additionally, Chennai and nearby areas. These areas have been placed under an orange alert, expecting very heavy rainfall of 11–20 cm.
