New Delhi: International Cricket Council (ICC) President Jay Shah on Saturday expressed his deep condolences over the tragic deaths of three young Afghan cricketers who lost their lives in an airstrike in the Argun and Barmal districts of Paktika province. According to reports, the ceasefire between the two countries was also disrupted following the attack.

Jay Shah tweeted, “Deeply saddened by the passing of three young Afghan cricketers, Kabir Agha, Sibghatullah, and Haroon. Their cricketing dreams were cut short in this violent incident.” He further stated that this is a huge tragedy not just for Afghanistan but for the entire cricketing world.

The ICC President expressed his condolences to the Afghanistan Cricket Board and the bereaved families, saying that the international cricket community stands with Afghanistan during this difficult time. He described the loss of these young players’ talent as tragic and invaluable.
Afghanistan’s Withdrawal from the Tri-Nation T20 Series
Following this, Afghanistan announced its withdrawal ahead of the Tri-Nation T20 series involving Pakistan and Sri Lanka. According to PCB sources, host Pakistan is now trying to invite another country for the tournament.
