Shambhala, starring Aadi Saikumar in the lead, is gearing up for a grand theatrical release on December 25, with the makers expressing strong confidence in both its content and pre-release business. Produced by Rajashekhar Annabhimoju and Mahidhar Reddy under the Shining Pictures banner and directed by Ugandhar Muni, the film is being positioned as a completely different horror entertainer with a strong devotional backdrop.
Interacting with the media ahead of the release, the producers said the film impressed them from the very first narration. Even before hearing the full script, the core story and its unique blend of devotion and horror convinced them to immediately greenlight the project. Although they initially planned a different film with Aadi Saikumar, the strength of Shambhala’s concept made them shift focus and move forward with this project.
The makers revealed that while the film began on a modest budget, the scale was later increased to ensure superior production values. Their belief in the story pushed them to invest more, a decision they say has paid off well. According to the producers, nearly 80 percent of the investment has already been recovered through satellite and OTT deals, placing the film in a financially safe zone even before its theatrical release.
Shambhala has also attracted strong business interest across markets. With Aadi Saikumar enjoying recognition in both Telugu and Hindi belts, the film has received encouraging offers for a Hindi version as well, which is expected to release shortly after the Telugu theatrical debut. The producers, who have earlier experience as video, DVD, and overseas distributors for major films, said this background helped them plan the film’s business strategically.
Speaking about director Ugandhar Muni, the producers praised his storytelling skills and clarity of vision. They said the team gained complete confidence after the initial shooting schedules and were highly impressed with how the film shaped up on the big screen. Content, they stressed, is the film’s biggest strength, with no comparison to any existing movie in the genre.
Music by Sricharan Pakala has emerged as another major highlight, with the background score significantly enhancing the film’s mood and visuals. The title Shambhala, the producers explained, carries deep meaning and relevance, and the film explores the essence and significance of the concept in a gripping narrative.
Blending horror, suspense, and emotional depth, Shambhala gives importance to every character, not just the lead roles. With Mythri Movie Makers releasing the film theatrically, the response from trade circles has been very positive. The makers confirmed that OTT and satellite rights were closed well ahead of release, with Aha acquiring the digital rights after viewing the film. While the first part has a complete conclusion, a small lead has been left open, keeping the possibility of a sequel alive.
