New Delhi: Team head coach Gautam Gambhir will host the Indian players for a dinner at his residence on Wednesday ahead of the second Test against the West Indies at New Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium, starting October 10. The dinner is planned as an open-air event in the garden, but it might be cancelled if it rains.

India currently lead the two-match series 1-0, as they defeated the West Indies by an innings and 140 runs in the first Test at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Ravindra Jadeja was awarded the ‘Player of the Match’ trophy for his all-round performance, scoring 104* and picking four wickets.

Talking about the first Test, West Indies won the toss and opted to bat first. India built a commanding lead of 286 runs in the first innings, thanks to centuries from KL Rahul (100 off 197 balls, with 12 fours), Dhruv Jurel (125 off 210 balls, which included 15 fours and three sixes), and Jadeja (104* off 176 balls, with six fours and five sixes). India declared at 448/5.

Alick Athanaze (38 in 74 balls, with three fours) and Justin Greaves (25 in 52 balls, with four boundaries) were highest run-scorers for West Indies in the second innings. India bowled them out for 146 runs, with Jadeja (4/54), Siraj (3/31) and Kuldeep (2/23) were the leading wicket-takers.
