Hyderabad: A Software Engineer from Hyderabad, Satish Reddy, has donated his Stem Cells twice through DKMS Foundation India, a voluntary Organisation involved in the treatment of Blood Cancer, giving two different Patients battling the disease a second chance at life.
On Tuesday, Satish Reddy was felicitated at a special event in Hyderabad by the DKMS Foundation.
Satish, who had registered as a potential donor in July 2016, donated his Stem Cells to a matching Blood Cancer Patient in June 2021. In a rare occurrence, he was matched again with a different Patient in September 2024 and went on to donate his Stem Cells for the second time in January 2025.
Speaking on the occasion, Satish Reddy said, “Donating stem cells is a small act that can create a huge impact. There’s no greater reward than knowing you have helped save a life, and meeting the recipient and seeing them well makes everything worthwhile.”
Head of Clinical Hematology, Continental Hospitals, Dr SK Gupta, and DKMS India Executive Chairman Patrick Paul, who felicitated Satish Reddy, said there was an urgent need for more Stem Cell Donors in India.
