South Africa captain Temba Bavuma is eyeing a return for the two-Test series against India later this year. The reigning World Test Champions will play play two Tests, three ODIs and five T20Is in India starting next month. Bavuma has not featured since the WTC final with a calf issue and will feature in a practice game against India A to get up to speed.
Bavuma to play for South Africa A vs India A
With an eye on the IND vs SA series, Temba Bavuma will play for South Africa against India A later this month. The Proteas A side will play 2 unofficial Test matches and 3 50-over games starting October 30. Bavuma has been named in the squad for the second 4-day game, set to be played at BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
The Proteas skipper had batted through injury to guide his side to their first ICC title in 27 years at Lord’s earlier this year. He has since been out of action, with Aiden Markram leading South Africa in the ongoing series in Pakistan. Marques Ackerman will lead the South Africa A side, while Zubayr Hamza and Prenelan Subrayan will feature. The latter two will join after the Pakistan series ends.
