Thalaivar173: Shoot timelines & genre details of Rajinikanth’s next revealed

Superstar Rajinikanth is currently busy shooting for Jailer 2, the sequel to the 2023 blockbuster Jailer, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. After wrapping up Jailer 2, Rajini will move on to his next project, tentatively titled Thalaivar173.
The film will be directed by Cibi Chakravarthy, who earlier helmed Don starring Sivakarthikeyan. As per the latest news, the shoot will begin in April and continue till September. The film is said to be a full-fledged family entertainer packed with fun elements, and a popular Malayalam actor is likely to play a key role.
The makers are eyeing a Pongal 2027 release. The project is backed by Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan. Initially, Sundar C was supposed to direct the film, but later the responsibility went to Cibi Chakravarthy.
