President Donald Trump on Friday shared an AI-generated music video on Truth Social, featuring a cover of Blue Öyster Cult’s “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper.” The video portrays former Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Russell Vought as the Grim Reaper, Vice President JD Vance on drums and Trump himself playing the cowbell in a fictional band. The animation in the video shows Vought wielding a scythe across Washington, DC, while the lyrics mock Democrats and praise Vought’s role in cutting government agencies as part of “Project 2025.”
The lyrics to the song are, “Now their time has come / Here the power’s gone / Russ Vought is the reaper / He wields the pen, the funds and the brain / Here comes the reaper / Dems you babies / Here comes the reaper / Gonna tie your hands / Here comes the reaper / Won’t be able to fly / Here comes the reaper / Cry baby end your plan.”
The video ends with the real footage of Democrats speaking as the singer intones “Blah blah blah blah blah” over the top. The final shot shows Trump supporting children in Halloween costumes trick-or-treating.
The video was created by the Dilley Meme Team, a group known for producing controversial pro-Trump digital content. This latest post follows widespread criticism of the 47th president’s earlier AI-generated videos, which many labelled bizarre, offensive and potentially dangerous.
The AI video comes amid the ongoing federal government shutdown.
Trump shared the post late Thursday night, following a meeting with Vought earlier that day. In a Truth Social post, he wrote, “I met today with Russ Vought, known for PROJECT 2025, to decide which Democrat agencies — most of which I consider a political SCAM — should be cut and whether those cuts will be temporary or permanent.”
