Raju Weds Rambai is receiving a strong and emotional response from audiences across Telugu states. Starring Akhil Raj and Tejaswini, the film is being widely praised as a touching and soulful love story. Directed by Sayilu Kompati and produced by Dolamukhi Subaltern Films and Monsoon Tales, the movie opened to impressive numbers after its release through Vamsi Nandipati Entertainments and Bunny Vas Works.
Actor Chaitanya Jonnalagadda, who played the instantly popular character Venkanna, expressed his happiness over the film’s success in a recent interview. He said the team always believed the audience would connect deeply with the story, and the response proved them right. Chaitanya shared that he has been flooded with calls and messages from viewers who loved his performance. He mentioned that he was not even active on social media earlier but had to create an account because of the unexpected attention. Although he acted in films like Bubble Gum and HIT 3, he said people never recognized him until the character of Venkanna brought him into the spotlight.
Chaitanya revealed that he prepared extensively for the role, choosing the costumes carefully, growing a beard, and maintaining an intimidating look by applying oil to his hair. He credited the detailed discussions with director Sayilu Kompati for shaping the character perfectly. He added that he initially hesitated to take up the role due to a prior commitment to a People Media Factory project, but producer Rahul, ETV Win, and the director strongly believed he was the perfect fit.
He also praised music director Suresh Bobbili as the true hero of the film, saying the background score moved people to tears and played a major role in the film’s emotional impact. Chaitanya shared that he comes from a middle-class family and his personal struggles helped him deliver honest performances. He stated that he wants to build his name independently without relying on his brother Siddhu and prefers not to invite him to film events. Though he received feedback after Bubble Gum that he might be offered father roles, he believes Venkanna has changed that perception. He added that he won’t take up disabled roles again unless they carry strong emotional meaning, as he does not want to be typecast.
Chaitanya also clarified that he lives in Hyderabad, not in the US, and is always available. He mentioned that he does not chase stardom and believes it is something only the audience can give. He entered films after securing financial stability, so he is not in a hurry. Currently, he is working on a project directed by Pavan Sadineni featuring Rajasekhar, and another film titled Akashamlo Oka Thara starring Dulquer Salmaan. Several more projects are in talks, hinting at a promising journey ahead for the actor.
This heartwarming success of Raju Weds Rambai and the love for Venkanna marks an important milestone in Chaitanya Jonnalagadda’s career, giving him the recognition he long waited for.
