Law enforcement requiring a warrant to enter your property is one of the bedrocks of the U.S. legal system. This is a right enshrined in the Fourth Amendment, protecting you against unreasonable searches and seizures by requiring government officials, such as law enforcement officers, to obtain an official warrant before entering private property.
There are scenarios where officials can enter your property without a warrant (i.e. emergency responders, if there’s an immediate threat to safety, evidence is in danger of being destroyed), but the law on these has been tested many times over to the point where cops needing a warrant is a right every American can rely upon.
Or, at least, it was.
In a truly disturbing video of an ICE raid, masked thugs are trying to break down the door of a family home. The terrified resident screams, “I want to see the warrant!” – their legal constitutional right. The ICE officer gloatingly replies, “Ma’am, you’ve been watching too many movies.” Then he lies: “We’ll show you the warrant after we’re done.”
“Show us your warrant!”
“Ma’am, you’ve been watching too many movies. We’ll show you the warrant after we’re done.”

They then break through the door and burst into the home with riot shields as babies scream in fear. Even if you’re a dyed-in-the-wool MAGA acolyte whose only desire in life is to see illegal immigrants tossed into nightmarish camps, this video should frighten you.
Was a real nice Constitution we had here once…
Would you be happy with a cop ignoring your right to a warrant to burst into your property for whatever reason they choose, whenever they like? Sure, you might counter that you’re not doing anything illegal, but even if you aren’t, cops will turn your house upside down and leave your front door hanging off its hinges.
But, frankly, this is just one of a million ways the U.S. Constitution is being dragged through the mud by the Trump administration. Americans could once rely on the cast-iron rights handed down by the founding fathers, which have made the United States a pillar of democratic principles and an example for the world. After just half a year of Trump? The Constitution may as well be toilet paper.
Whether there’s a path back from this remains to be seen, though these are truly dark days for America.
