The arrest was made by the Anti-Narcotic Intelligence Unit of the Chennai Police during a focused operation targeting an alleged drug network operating in the city. Along with Anju Krishna, assistant director Vinsee Nivetha and several others were taken into custody, taking the total number of arrested persons to eight. According to police officials, the operation was launched after they received specific inputs about drug peddling activities in parts of Chennai. Acting on this information, officers conducted a decoy operation in Valasaravakkam by posing as buyers. When a delivery was attempted using a car, the police moved in and detained the group, including the actress. During the operation, officers reportedly seized substances believed to be methamphetamine, ganja, and LSD stamps, which have now been sent for further examination as part of the investigation.
Anju Krishna is known for her work in Tamil and Malayalam cinema and has appeared in films such as Vellimalai in Tamil and Aaro alongside actor Joju George in Malayalam. She also gained recognition through her appearance in the television serial Priyankari, which helped her build a following among regional audiences. Although born in Thrissur, Kerala, she has primarily worked in the Tamil film industry in recent years. Police officials stated that the investigation is ongoing and that the roles of all the accused are being examined in detail.
