The much‑anticipated sports drama “Peddi”, starring Ram Charan and Janvi Kapoor, finally secured a green light for an exclusive release in Andhra Pradesh – but not without a dramatic courtroom saga. Earlier this month, the film’s producers filed a petition in the Telangana High Court seeking permission to hike ticket prices across the state, prompting a backlash from fans and consumer groups. While the court remained hesitant to grant an interim order, the producers withdrew the petition, fearing a prolonged legal battle.

Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh government gave the green signal for special screenings at a flat ₹600 ticket price, inclusive of GST. The first premium shows are set to roll out on June 3 at 8 p.m., with a limited‑run schedule of five shows daily to maximise opening‑week revenues. In addition, during the opening week, single‑screen tickets will rise to ₹100 and multiplex tickets to ₹125 – a modest increase aimed at covering distribution costs and rewarding the star‑studded cast.
Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, “Peddi” chronicles the rise of a rural sports hero and promises high‑octane action, emotional storytelling, and a memorable soundtrack by AR Rahman. The ensemble also includes Shivrajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyendu and Boman Irani, adding gravitas to the project. Production houses like Vridhi Cinemas and IV Entertainment have pooled resources, while Mahesh Suri has taken on the role of co‑producer.
Fans across the twin states are abuzz, with social media trending #PeddiRelease and demanding a wider rollout. While Telangana officials remain undecided on price hikes, the film’s early momentum in Andhra Pradesh could set a precedent for future regional releases. As the curtain lifts on June 4, all eyes will be on Ram Charan’s performance and whether the ticket‑price strategy pays off for the producers.
