Hyderabad, India – The Hyderabad Japan Festival, organized by Na Ra Japan Hub, returned for its 28th year, showcasing a vibrant blend of Japanese culture and tradition. The six-day event, held in collaboration with the Japanese Association of Hyderabad, kicked off on Saturday at the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT) in Hitec City.

A Fascinating Display of Bonsai

The Consul General of Japan in Chennai, Takahashi Muneo, was particularly impressed by the bonsai installations, noting the unique connection between Australian and Indian flora. His experience in Australia allowed him to recognize the commonality of certain bonsai species in both countries.

Cultural Workshops and Demonstrations

The festival offered a variety of cultural workshops and demonstrations, including sumi-e ink painting, origami, and a Japanese tea ceremony. Students from the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) participated in the tea ceremony, dressed in traditional kimonos and preparing matcha tea. Intricate origami displays, such as miniature figures of a Pokémon ball, Jedi Master Yoda, and a Rubik’s cube, also captivated visitors.

Celebrating Indo-Japanese Relations

Na Ra Japan Hub, founded by Ram Bhadra and his wife, B. Naganath, has been instrumental in fostering Indo-Japanese relations for nearly three decades. Their commitment to cultural exchange has earned them several accolades, including awards from the Order of the Rising Sun. The hub has also played a significant role in facilitating educational opportunities for Indian students in Japan, with around 40 students from Nasr School currently benefiting from their programs.

The Hyderabad Japan Festival continues to be a valuable platform for promoting cultural understanding and strengthening the bonds between India and Japan.
