Hyderabad is rapidly becoming a major hub for apprenticeships, reflecting a national shift towards skill-based hiring. The Apprenticeship Outlook Report (Jan-Mar 2024-25) recorded a Net Apprenticeship Outlook (NAO) of 76%, an 8% increase from the previous quarter, driven by industries like drones, EVs, and healthcare.
The city joins Bengaluru, Chennai, Pune, Indore, and Nagpur in leading apprenticeship adoption. Nagpur tops the list with 91% NAO, followed by Indore at 81%. Hyderabad’s growth is fueled by its expanding IT, BPM, healthcare, and advanced manufacturing sectors.
Employers are increasingly using apprenticeships to bridge skill gaps, lower hiring costs, and build a future-ready workforce. 75% of apprentices transition into full-time roles, highlighting the effectiveness of hands-on training.
The drone sector leads with 86% NAO, followed by Global Capability Centres (79%) and EV & Mobility (75%). Government initiatives like Make in India, PLI schemes, and state-led skilling programs are accelerating this trend.
Key factors influencing apprenticeship-to-job conversion include learning agility (79%), on-the-job training (66%), industry-academia collaboration (51%), and structured mentorship (49%). Businesses are urged to integrate apprenticeships into their hiring strategies, expand partnerships with educational institutions, and invest in mentorship programs.
