HYDERABAD – A sudden and intense downpour on Saturday left several parts of Hyderabad submerged, as the city received a staggering 12 cm of rainfall in just one hour. The torrential rain led to widespread flooding, disrupting normal life and affecting numerous colonies across the city.
Areas worst hit by the flash floods included Gachibowli, Himayatnagar, Vanasthalipuram, and Domalguda, where residents reported severe waterlogging and inundated streets. The unprecedented intensity of the rain quickly overwhelmed the city’s drainage systems, turning roads into rivers and causing significant inconvenience to commuters and residents.
In response to the situation, Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi was on the ground to oversee relief efforts. She was seen monitoring the situation and coordinating with rescue teams at Banjara Hills Road No. 12, a key area impacted by the flooding.

Municipal authorities and disaster response teams are working to clear stagnant water, remove fallen trees, and restore normal traffic flow. The heavy rainfall has once again highlighted the need for robust urban infrastructure to handle such extreme weather events.
